Create in Community: Write Your Birth Story

Our first ever Write Your Birth Story workshop was a tiny miracle of creation and community.

Our six participants came to write about birthing their babies three months ago to 30 years ago, proving what the research shows: giving birth is an experience that stays with us.

For me and for Jaclyn, sharing the prompts to help draw those stories out was only the beginning. It was an honour to bear witness to the power of these writers expressing their challenges and transformation, and so moving to feel the kindness in the group, as everyone listened, and held each other up. Thanks to The Move Room for the space where our writers could get comfortable and in touch with their stories and themselves. It was perfect.

We came away inspired—and it seems our writers did too.

You really did think of everything. You created a comfortable and safe space to explore our stories and guided our group beautifully through some sensitive terrain. Wonderful handout, too!

I wanted to share just how much I enjoyed it. You created such a safe and comfortable space to share. The structure provided great guidance for getting started and made writing feel more accessible and possible…my only constructive feedback is that I want more!
